Some guys just lose it before others. I seriously doubt Toews isn't training correctly in the offseason. I just think his body is 5-7 years older than he is. I still don't understand how this is even possible. He's fucking 29, with the best training, nutrition, doctors, and technology available to him.... There's no fucking excuse. If he's having this much trouble, he needs to work HARDER.

Anybody else remember hearing something about him fucking up his back, sorry lower body, during either the last Olympics, or maybe it was one of those damn summertime Canada Cups ? i know it was like late 2016/early 2017 that it first came up. To me, that makes the most sense given the fact that he's still not yet 30. Hard miles he's logged yeah, but that shouldn't be kicking in for a few more years. Either the back, or it's something more serious internally that hasn't been discovered yet. But to look so weak with and without the puck, it's baffling.

I mean, he doesn't even have the old man strength that can typically carry you from 35-45....
Looks like a high school kid playing against grown men. Physically outmatched, everywhere.

All of "The Core" has played a lot of hockey the last 8+ years. I wasn't even thinking about the extra Olympics and Canada Cups. It all adds up as the price you pay for all their success along with aging. Sure JT is only 29 but in most sports that's nearing the final phase or the beginning of the end.

One cannot discount the miles that those guys have put on. Kane plays the softest game of the four named to the core, and he has held up the best as a result.
One hopes that the concussions haven't scrambled JT's motor skills even slightly...at the level he is used to playing at, an actual physical issue keeping him from getting back to it would be the ultimate in frustration.

Sorry there is an arch in a players career. Sorry that a players performance at some point wanes. Sorry that emotionless cost-benefit ration analysis applies. Sorry that players don't get faster with age. Sorry that the difference between good and great is sometimes razor thin. Sorry that the distinction between individual and team performance is often murky. Sorry life isn't fair. Oh so sorry....just the way it is.

Exactly. I don't know what the argument against this is. Everyone's body is different. Maybe JT was the kind of guy who wouldn't have made it to 35 even playing a Kane type game. But the abuse his body has had, it just rolled that clock all the way back.

Imagine if Toews were to become an UFA this summer, instead of lasting another 5 seasons? How much would he get?
He is on pace for 52pts. How much would a bottom-third top line center like him be worth? I'd imagine someone would throw $6m at him. More? Less?
