The best was #91 left wide open in the slot as Toews controlled the puck while three Oilers stood around watching it all happen. Different than November Blackhawks - then all three players would have been chasing the puck while opposing players were alone at the doorstep. Fine with me. Keep piling on the points. Pez is right, there are a lot of (other?) hot garbage teams competing with the Hawks to move up. There is still a long way to go, but the Hawks accumulating points at this time of year is a good sign. Keep winning and keeping moving farther away from an impact draft pick - understood. But there are worse teams. And the real tanking hasn't started yet. The Strome pick-up for Schmaltz has been very important to this. He and #91 do not shy away from the tough areas. What happened to Kampf?
Still playing like shit...Lower body in the 2nd I believe.

It does say something about the forward depth of the team when it is difficult not to take a step back after losing a middling player like Kampf.

IMO there's no way the Hawks will win the lottery anyway. Hughes IMO will end up in Colorado. So why not win some games.

Probably, but that's not it. We don't need impact players in the west unless the Hawks get them. Colorado improving is not a nice thought.

There is still a long way to go, but the Hawks accumulating points at this time of year is a good sign. Just to make sure everyone understands: the Hawks ain't making the playoffs this season. Not going to happen. A three game win streak in February means shit. That W last night put the Hawks at 7.2% odds of making the playoffs. But it was a win against a shitty team. www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL.htmlAnyway, great fun game. The Oilers handed the Hawks the game in the third. I have not seen defense that terrible since... well... Hawks this season, actually. Several times. But it was bad, anyway. Hawks are on their way to becoming a mediocre team. There are two more winnable games coming this week, against two rivals and I am glad they found a good form before those games. And they better perform, because Nuck the Fucks and fuck the wangs. Let's enjoy the wins, but let's not pretend this team is anything but a bunch of scrubs and has-beens. The next two games might as well be their Cup finals this season.

You pull out a site that says that that win doubled the Hawks chances of making the playoffs, so I'll just say

Are they not 3 points off the wild card? And playing the team they are chasing next?

There are a bunch of teams with games in hand, and the team really hasn't many/any big injury issues save for CC.
If, and this is the proverbial Godzilla-sized if, they keep winning, there are enough issues on the other teams that could put them back in the wild card race, as improbable as that is.
Case in point - Koivu now out for the year with a torn ACL.
Of course, any injury to any of the forwards with Cup rings or Keith puts the final nail in that coffin. Agreed, it is still a very, very long shot.
And the reward would be Winnipeg, Nashville, Calgary or the Sharks. Best, best case in your wildest hockey dream, one and done.

If this prevents from being sellers at the deadline, then that's dumb.
