After this loss Moneypuck lists the Hawks odds of making the playoffs as 39.9%. Winning the Stanley Cup at 2.0% and winning the draft lottery 2.9% of the time. Hawks are in limbo. Too bad to make the playoffs, too good to give up completely. Too bad to contend beyond quick exit in the 1#?st round, too good to tank for a high pick. Both extremes are preferable to the current state. Thats exactly it...and its the worst place to be, as a fan...I've watched the Laffs endure this for 50 years until quite recently...and even their luck in the draft has been mostly undone by awful management decisions. The Canucks also for years have been a classic tweener team. The Hawks pipeline is garbage...they have next to no talent on the way, and are rated atb the bottom of most rankings. They are unlikely to make the playoffs, and if they do are constructed to provide another embarrassing loss.

I wonder if de haan or seabrook when they were done for season considered the tiny chance of a playoff run... de haan certainly monster upgrade.
