They simply are not good enough at any facet of the game

Surprised that ended 2-1. So many chances both ways it should have been 6-5. Loss was not on Crow for sure.
Special teams a big difference maker. That shortie cost the Hawks dearly. The game could have gone either way without it.
I can't fault the team for losing a game like this. Nothing embarrassing about losing to a better team. They clearly gave it all they got. Good effort. Battled hard. Just wasn't enough. Nothing seems to be enough against the Knights. That's on Stan, not the guys on the ice.

The hawk effort was playoff worthy and Debrincat having that many scoring chances is still a positive - he is snake bitten at the wrong time.
But yes, Vegas is just better. Probably 3 games to zero better. They have neutralized the Toews line, and that is probably the difference. And capitalizing on every Hawk mistake.
Still a positive to give the kids this experience, though with the crowd it would/will be another level.
Hopefully the Hawks won't deceive themselves that this team is close. Maatta will probably never have more value than he has now.

Well, just about time for Stan to pick some tiny Swede 16th or whatever.

...and that is the problem
The Hawks will absolutely use their meaningless win over Edm, in a 'playoff'they had no business qualifying for, to sell the hopium to the deranged fanbase, and continue Lispy's reign of error.

I hope the loss of 5-6 or however many Draft spots doesn’t come back to bite them. But...with Stan at the helm, if he isn’t falling into a top 3 spot does it make a difference?

The 9th or 16th pick is 4 years away and then leaves as a NCAA free agent.
