Hawks are now officially eliminated, no? Yup. The Hawks Stanley Cup run ends March 20th. Unceremoniously eliminated by Mikko Rantanen.

Other than 2 Sunday's ago they can't play a game without giving up at least 4 goals a game. I can't believe this team is this bad. Again what will they do about next year? Firing just the assistants or the stick boy won't cut it this time. Off with all their heads.

How likely is it that Hossa returns next season when Gus is getting paid more than him?
LOL!

Hossa must feel good about his decision to retire last summer. He didn't need to be a part of this shit show.

Any team in the league would struggle without their # 1 goalie, best 2-way forward, best SAH, and their 2nd best offensive player especially if they have a retard as head coach.

I saw the first period only (thankfully).
These days you can pretty much call the stars of visiting teams living up to their name/stats/hype when they come to Chicago. Looks like Rantanen, Barrie and MacKinnon did their thing as I expected in the last two periods. This won't be atypical moving forward...The Hawks are not able to offer any resistance to superiorly-skilled players and when one or more come in hot, they show it.
Especially if they are playing for something besides their own stats. The Lanche were, and it looks like it showed through.
Colorado is a team that took a full year to get their shit together so I am slightly hopeful that a second year together for most of these players helps them along on a more positive course...but it's not quite the same thing obviously.
But, hope...it's why we watch, no?

Could be said for the whole team. What does it matter really? There was nothing wrong with what he did. Just like the clown rushing the puck up ice instead of just eating it the last 3 seconds. Fuck Keith...invisible all game (and season) when it matters most, then take a totally meaningless cheap run at someone at the buzzer...microcism of the entire season. He is a gutless embarrassment.

Firing just the assistants or the stick boy won't cut it this time. Off with all their heads. .... yes, the team is this bad, the rot runs deep & there's no quick fix. The Hawks aren't just a player away, nor will the over abundance of inexperience develop into talent. The team is a collection of once weres & never will bes. There's nothing in the farm system, no Connor McDavid waiting for the Hawks to pluck in the draft and no obvious means to correct the salary cap stranglehold. Yes, get rid of daddy's boy, Stun...not even worth the effort to elaborate on this view. The on the ice product is all Stun. He owns it. Yes, get rid of Q....the misfit in a scenerio guaranteed to fail. A coach that hates rookies coaching a team laden with rookies. A coach that hates to coach offense on a team that can't produce offense. A defensive coach on a team that can't play defense. A couple of weeks ago, one of the local sports reporters was showing a clip shot at the Hawks practice. In the background you could hear the ever inspiration Q close practice with ... "Let's go have some fun out there." Are you fucking kidding me? The team isn't hard to play against. There's nothing in the Hawks that opponents need fear. On offense, all the Hawks seem to want to do is shoot 15' wrist shots. On defense, all they want to do is join the rush. They don't compete or contest. They're pussy soft. "Off with all their heads." You bet.

I just question the "Colorado is a team that took a full year to get their shit together"
Its been a number of seasons really. They had a fluke year several seasons ago (where they were trounced in the playoffs by the Wild?) but that's about it.

I just question the "Colorado is a team that took a full year to get their shit together" Its been a number of seasons really. They had a fluke year several seasons ago (where they were trounced in the playoffs by the Wild?) but that's about it. I don't think their collection of talent this year is too much different than last year. My point is that with essentially the same players, the system and style the coach wanted them to play took a good year for everyone to buy into. Combine that with the maturation of a guy like Rantanen and an amazing year from MacKinnon, they have made a remarkable turnaround and I think they will be at least as good as they are for a while. Last year they bottomed out, but stuck with it and good things happened. Now as pointed out the Hawks don't have the young talent waiting to take off like Colorado does/did, but the "hope" would be that with a full season under their belt the same guys out there this year will be markedly improved next year, at least in team play. And from there, you "hope" more cohesive team play allows the slumping, tired veteran talent (Saad, Toews, Keith, Seabs) will be more of their past selves next year. They won't ever be what they were but we "hope" that this year isn't set in stone as to where they are career-wise. For guys used to playing with a good team that knew how everyone played and what their on-ice tendencies are, a year with so much newness around them has to have drained them even more. It ain't an excuse, but the adjustment downward as a team has to be pretty surreal for them. The key to the team actually trending back upward is likely a new coach, and one "hopes" that a new coach doesn't halt the building of team cohesion spoken of earlier. There would be changes in how the team plays of course (we "hope"), but with a group more comfortable playing together, it should be an adjustment for the better. The players aren't gonna change much...they really can't. So we have to hope we see a turnaround in the same vein as Colorado had this year, where a group got comfortable and put a much better showing as a team out there. Where that leads the Hawks to finish next season is debatable, but I certainly "hope" that this is the bottom for them right now. Time will tell.

In all seriousness, has Colorado REALLY got their shit together? They are a 1st round out. They are the Hawks of last season, but slept through the first half of the season. A one line team. MacKinnon is having a Hart-type season, carrying them kicking and screaming into the playoffs. That shit doesn't work come playoff time. Colorado is no better off than they were a few years ago. They will make the playoffs periodically when MacKinnon and Raatenen are killing it.
The rot in this organization does run deep. These guys have had it too good, and too easy, for too long. It's time for a change in leadership, and that starts with your head coach and coaching staff. Actual fucking practice would be a great start...

Watching the game last night (and other than MacKinnon who is a fucking stud) I questioned why the Hawks were being made to look so bad? Their goaltending is awful, we know that. I think the team has completely checked out from playing under Q (as almost any team would when A) he's a rube and B) He's been there for 10 years)
I would like to see what the core group would do under a new coach. Give them 30 games next season with a fresh start and if the same shit kept up, I'd clean house (as much as possible given half the roster having NMCs)
