As long as it is underhand.

Don’t look now but the Cards are red hot and only 4 games back.
The Cubs have been sleepwalking since the break, 13-12 with a -28 or so run differential. It wouldn’t surprise me to see them end up 3rd in the central when all is said and done. Terrible combination of mediocre starting pitching and a punchless offense.
No real reason to expect meaningful contributions from Darvish or Bryant this season.
The Schwarber/Happ/Contreras/Russell offensive numbers are prettt disappointing. Really needed at least 2 of those 4 to take a step forward this year. I suppose you could argue Schwarber has, but he has been dreadful since the break.

As long as it is underhand. Overhand, as long as he can 1-bounce it..

Still got 50+ games...A couple of those 4 will remember how...As far as the Cards, smoke and mirrors. they also don't have the pitching. Cubs, 13-12 and moved from 2nd to 2 games in 1st...

Sleepwalking through the regular season is not a recipe for success come playoff-time. The Cardinals have been an injury and bad personnel choice dumpster fire, yet they are right back in it against a Cubs team "with all this great young field talent." The record since the break and losing 7-0 at home to the team right behind them is not a good sign.

Quintana has been garbage this year and that trade is going to look dreadful in 5 years, if it doesn’t already.
It’s almost like guys like him and Darvish and Chatwood who pitch in low pressure environments their whole careers regress when they go to a team and park where the games start to matter.
How Theo and the very highly acclaimed front office managed to miss this is baffling.

The inability to internally develop a quality starting pitcher is still a big achilles heal of this team. Though watching the A's do what they're doing with little to no semblance of a competitive starting makes the Cubs, Giants and Dodgers spending on pitching look even worse.

A little pressure on the Cubs from the Brewers/Cards would do them good. They need to start feeling some heat to play better. Although baseball season doesn't really begin until September, I think Bryant can play they just don't have any need as long as they are where they are in the standings. Darvish is gonna be activated September for better or worse.

It amazes me how people are throwing Darvish away after 8 starts. Also to claim he wasn't in a high pressure situation when he pitched in Dallas & LA, and in the playoffs 3 out of his 6 seasons is pretty silly. I remember him looking damn good against the Cubs last year in the playoffs, as he did against the D-backs in the first round. He fucked up against the 'Stros, no doubt.
Quintana was pretty good last season. I personally think it's a bit suspecious that all the starters (including Lester now that he's gotten bombed a few times) are struggling this season when the guys who were here last year (Hendricks, Quintanta, Lester) weren't. That suggests an issue with the pitching coach change. And it would make sense that if Hickey messed with those guys, that he's been detrimental to the new guys too.

You don't really think a guy like Lester would permit a new Coach to fuck with his game, do ya? And Hendricks graduated from Dartmouth, he can't be stoopid...Quintana, ya know.

Darvish struggled the last 2 years in the playoffs in TX.
Hes not known as a clutch guy...I think he is tainted from that bad contract

"Struggled". he let up 5 runs in 5 innings one game and 3 in 6.2 in the other, along with 11 Ks overall. Helluva sample size to make a pronouncement that he struggled.
In his 5 seasons in Texas, he was 14-3 in games that he pitched when the team came in with a 2 or more game losing streak. I don't know what clutch means, but the idea that he's mentally weak is a new one.
