And likely Kimbrel to the South Side as well. That should give LaRussa plenty of bullpen options.

Baez to Mets. Fine by me, another Cub not worthy of the 9 figures he wants.

Lol cubs tore down a team which could compete.

Cubs set up nicely in 2-4 years.

They couldn’t compete with any of the NL West or that Mets rotation in October. This purge of the core was long overdue after the last few wasted seasons.

Wow, indeed. Officially starting over. You guys are gonna like Madrigal. As long as those metrics fucks leave him alone, and let him be what he already is.

That Cubs team got only 1 WS ring. Most people thought they would be a serious contender more than 2 years. Seems like they gave up on this season before it even started.

So many obvious holes, especially starting pitching. Cubs would've needed everything to go right. Let's not even talk about situational hitting.

Getting rid of Fowler totally screwed up the sync of the offense. They haven’t had a true high OBP guy in the 1spot since then. Going with Madrigal and Nico at the top of the line up will be a nice change.
Can see Contreras being dealt in the offseason. I think they keep Hendricks around as the clubhouse leader.

Agreed that Contreras will have a new home after the offseason. It makes zero sense to keep him.
Ricketts letter to season ticket holders was pretty amusing. Especially the part about the high quality player development system. If the system was of that high quality the team wouldn't have been signing free agents every year to fill in the gaps. That is the area that needs work - yesterday.
Jason Heyward almost has to be bought out at this point if they want to refresh completely. Unless they want a part-time starter making $28 million in the clubhouse. I have always liked Heyward, but he is probably worth about 25% of that salary, and pretty much has been since acquired.
Hopefully it was mostly Theo and not Jed on all the free agent signings since 2016. What a train wreck in that area overall. And all that money spent while the offense launch-angled itself to being pretty mediocre most of the time.
