A brutal last 10 minutes of the 1st period. Not scoring on 2 man advantage took the wind out of them. Down 3-1 are they capable of a comeback here?

3 guys checked the wrong forward on that last Bruins goal.
Holy fuck was that embarrassing...hawks are just so soft and sad. Bruins beat the shit out of them
This is nowhere near a playoff team...no matter how weak the west us this year.

That's just a shit effort...delia is garbage He was better than Rask tonight. All 3 Hawks goals were stoppable. Delia made saves Rask didn't. Hawks were just outclassed. The D gets crushed when a team can move the puck as well as the Bruins top line can. |

Dahlstrom -3 awful.. yes they looked like crap but on the road in Boston and were do to lose. 3 straight coming up at home. We will see if the winning streak was just a mirage teaser? PK still sucks. The 3rd goal by Boston was set up by a lazy unnecessary icing then Delia uses his blocker like it was warmups, just pushed the puck right in front of the goal.

The Hawks are still in contention for a playoff spot by virtue of improvement in their play combined with a group of teams immediately ahead of them that aren't very good either.
A game like last night is a reminder that the various narratives "all on Q" and "all on Stan" are pretty much bunk. All sides have their fingers in this, players included. Playoff teams that are even remotely serious (short of an offensive powerhouse, which the current Hawks are not) have a strong defensive blueline. A top 5 goaltender is a plus, but not paramount.
Corsi me to your hearts content - the pairing of Forsling-Gustafsson when together was a turnstyle in their own end. Doesn't matter when skating is wonderful if positioning and decision-making are suboptimal (and I'm being kind).
And agreed - the Hawks lack even mini-versions of two-way forwards short of Toews. Defensive laziness or herding to the puck that would make a 7 year old hockey team proud is sort of astonishing given the amount of time these guys have played.
Even with these warts they are competitive in a shitty conference. But just as easily if the Kings and Ducks heat up and things tighten up, short of roster dumping, they still could very easily be in the bottom 5. Toews-Kane are great togeather until Strome-Cat stop scoring. Then on the road you only have to shut down one line and not take stupid penalties, and the Hawks are toast.
