I voted stan gets fired if they miss the playoffs again, but only because its common sense. But let us not kid ourselves that the McD exoress operates the way a normal, healthy organization would.
In a rational world, stan never would have been hired (as a function of his daddy agreeing to a personal services contract) in the first place...and he certainly would have been fired for his blatant misconduct in the whole missed qualifying offer...except he was the hatchet man for McD to get rid if Tallon. Then, her certainly should have been fired for turning a championship roster into a last place embarrassment...and gross cap and roster management malfeasance.

Eventually Stan will be bumped up to VP in charge of coffee and blowjobs or something like that. He won't get fired.
I could see him leaving on his own post-"promotion" to GM some other sucker though.
The timeline on something like that happening depends on their management pipeline. Norm McIver is supposedly ready for a GM job, so I think it would happen if they really didn't want to lose him and Stan was floundering (more than usual).
Other than that, Stan ain't going anywhere. Stays put or moves up.

So...are the hawks a playoff team?
That will obviously be a season-long discussion.
I think they will improve on last years point total...problem is, they are in the stronger of the 2 western divisions, and have 5 teams ahead of them. Being better than anyone in the pacific will do them no good.
The Blues, Preds and Jets are all significantly better. They are an echelon above the Hawks. Minny suck, and should again finish in the basement.
So there are really only 2 teams the hawks need to focus on...Dallas and Colorado. Both were better than the Hawks last year, and both gave had busy off-seasons, which have seen them each improve.
I think the hawks have a better chance at catching the older and slower Stars, than the young, blazing fast still up and coming Avs...but it wont be easy..the boys could conceivably improve by 8-10 pts and miss the playoffs...they will need at least 96 to get in, IMO.
It will be a real struggle.

They had the PP working for a stretch last season and the PK can't get any worse. In theory you have 2 strong goalies so if they can avoid long losing streaks and bring back home ice dominance they will could get in.

Could? Yes...will? That's overly bold.
The PP wont be as dominant this year...you can almost bank on that. Just law of averages.

I think they get in this year as one of the WC teams. I’m not sure who takes a step back in the West but I like the moves made so far this offseason and think they’ll have more confidence and a step in their game going into camp this year.

But the problem is who in the division drops back that far? Nothing that happens in the Pacific matters, at this point. Will Wpg drop off that far, after all that turmoil? That's a pretty epic drop off. Colorado are ascending...they are actually top 5 in cup favourite betting so far.

Colorado I definitely see being top 3 in the central. It will have to be one of Dallas or Winnipeg.
I think the Blows take a step back with the Cup hangover and long summer, but not enough one of to miss the playoffs.
Nashville still remains a top 3 team in the central, but perhaps the last few years of extra hockey starts taking its toll on them this year.
It’s a long season though and a lot can happen. I think some more stability in net and some better bodies back on D will have a noticeable impact, and really like the looks of the bottom 6 now compared to years past.
