id vote house cleaned if they arent very close or in around trade deadline. if theyre 12+back i think you see everyone out. Stan's got a get out of jail free card, at least until Scotty drops.

idk who they could move, even if they wanted to. maybe if mcd down go, a new gm/team may wanna total blow up but i doubt it even then.
i do wonder league wide how people feel about hawks prospects. all the hawks media pimps boqvist n mitchell as orr and bourque.

Trade Kane and accelerate a rebuild. He has the most value.

Go to HF, Boqvist/Mitchell are already Gods, and Joker talked his way out of town, mostly cause the 1st 2 had passed him by..

Trade Kane and accelerate a rebuild. He has the most value. Seems maybe trading your best player, whos 30 years old, is counterproductive to actually having a successful rebuild. Hes going to be a top player in the league for 4-5 years. A ridiculous idea.

I would be for trading Kane if you actually rebuilt. Where would the Hawks be if they traded Hammer and Panarin for draft picks/prospects instead of two guys making 10 million in cap hits that are effectively a 3rd liner and a # 5 defenseman?

Thats the problem...it all has to do with the (in)competence of the management team.

The Hawks are obviously going the "rebuild light" approach and trying to be a playoff team while rebuilding/fixing on the fly.
But one silver lining in this if they do not make the playoffs and this rebuild light does not work - some of the assets they just acquired (Shaw, deHaan, Maatta) will have more value for a team in a playoff run scenario than some of the depth trash the team has carried the last couple of years, salary cap notwithstanding. And we've beaten to death that the two goaltenders come off the books as well.
The only outlier in this is the Nylander move - somebody in the organization better have their jewels on the line for that move, because Nylander still looks a lot like the kind of smallish floating forwards they've been gradually ridding themselves of over the past year or so.
On a separate note, have to be wondering about what is going through Keith's mind presently. If you look at the actual amount of cash he is being paid now, he is probably still their best defenseman bringing in fewer actual dollars than anyone not named Gustafsson.

Stan isn't getting fired. If he was on the hot seat, why are they giving him an extension more than a year before his current deal expires?
The analytics guy on the Athletic said the Hawks had one of the best offseasons, but even still it's only with 3-4 more wins, which means they'll still be in the outside looking in come playoff time.

Agreed, Hawks improved their roster but so did Dallas, Avs..
