So...this is neat
A combined 2 goals and one assist combined, through 9 games.
Oh ...and a tidy -10
It's actually hard to put into words how awful those combined contracts are...I cant even do the math...yearly cap hit vs years remaining. It boggles the mind.
All while the team displays all the trademark symptoms of a fat and lazy locker room and zero buy in from the veteran core.
The good ship Blackwak is adrift at sea...rudderless...listing badly and set ablaze

Just to be clear on this: Turnstyle Magee = Keith, Seabrook or both?

Keith at least appears to be moving his legs when he tries stuff.
We all knew Johnny's last year was an aberration points wise...he willed a good season out of himself trying to help the team make the playoffs after Q was gone. This season, seeing basically the same cast of characters back at it, he just doesn't have another season in him like that for this group.
Should the team get better in the next couple of seasons, I could see him dragging one more excellent season out of himself. He is the type of player that really can kick it up a notch when needed...but this year? Even he knows "why bother". Save whatever is left for a season where making the playoffs is a real possibility.
Seabs is Seabs, thanks for all you did for three Cup runs, but you in the pressbox now is the best thing for everyone...even if it means Gilbert is in the lineup (wretch, gag).

How in gods name can Seabrook have 5 years remaining...that is by far the worst contract in the league.

Toews will snap out of it and be the best player on the ice again once the playoffs start.
Oh,
...right. Nevermind.
But he did use to have that luxury of starting slow and then turning into a beast as the spring approached. Now he can't do that. In order for the Hawks to stand any chance, Toews needs to play hard starting from game one. Every point is a matter of (playoff) life and death.

The truth is that Hossa overinflated Toews’ value to the club all those years. With Hossa gone, Toews has shown he can’t carry a line offensively when that’s what he is paid to do. If you could have a do over, you keep Kane at 21 million and let Toews walk.
