Big week in tankfest....someone has to get points in todays Ottawa/Arizona & Rangers/Edmonton matchups. Monday has a scintillating matchup of Edmonton/Arizona. Is Wednesday's Arizona/Vandouchver matchup a "rivalry" national broadcast game....must watch tv? Buffalo/Ottawa & Florida/Montreal have to be circled on everyone's calendars for Thursday night too.

It would be more interesting if there wasn't a lottery.
Who would watch the playoffs if the winner only got 18% odds of the Stanley Cup, and a team eliminated in the first round could still win it as well.

I think the problem with that is that it's the fans who obsess over draft picks, not the players. The players couldn't give a rats ass where the team drafts. If anything, they might prefer not to have too many hot shot young guns joining the team, especially if you're a fringe player. They have their own jobs to worry about. Even currently, it's only the fans who want to see their team lose. No player goes into a game wanting to lose. Lose too much and you won't find work next year.

Yeah, so I think you worked out why it's not really a problem. I'm not interested in this because I think it will light a fire under the Blackhawks' asses right now. It just gives the fans a reason to keep cheering for their teams to the end. It might not be as exciting as making a push for the playoffs, but it's at least something to keep you engaged with your team in a more positive fashion than the current system allows for.

The 2 goalies are sweating it out on a nightly basis , waiting for the other to blink. Can't imagine one genuinely saying "nice try, next season you got this". Neither one should be looking at houses in the chi town area.

That's a mess. Is it 5.8% for #1 pick?

Yeah, I believe that is 5.8% for #1, but 18.3% for any top 3 slot.
