Who do you like for the Hawks pick?
Wouldn't it be nice to have our 2nd which looks like a top 40 (and for that matter Danault) instead of the fail that was Weise and Fleischmann.

Depends on how far this team falls. Keep on tanking. Bring on Dahlin.
Sure would be nice to have both the 2nd, and Danault.

Trade the second for Versteeg and the first for Leddy.

Trade the second for Versteeg and the first for Leddy. Maybe Anisimov can get us Brower back too?

Just don't let Blowman make the pick.

I had this scary thought that Rocky & McD will tell Stan he gets to keep his job only if the team makes the playoffs next season. So he'll do whatever it takes and trades for some veterans, giving up picks and prospects and of course makes a splash free agent signing. Further ruining the roster.

Well, just consider what Rocky will say if there suddenly they have trouble selling season tickets.
A. Yeah, it's ok, bruh. Just rebuild carefully so we'll be good in a decade.
B. This can't happen! Playoffs next season or you're fired!
Bad team means less revenue. Kind of why Montreal never wants a proper rebuild. Too much (short term) money to lose.

That same kind of bubble team/pretender limbo is possible for the Hawks.
Fill the seats and tease with a team that can maybe almost contend or just barely miss the playoffs. Win a round of playoffs every now and then, but nothing more. Enough excitement to keep things at status quo.
I think Rocky fears the years of cellar dwelling / empty seats. But who's gonna build a stacked team that can make deep runs and win another Cup, without drafting high? Not Stan.

Rocky is not an idiot. He knows how this works. They raised ticket price exponentially for this very reason. It's why they didn't spend Hossa's LTIR money, as well. I think they know very well that the next couple years might be a bit rough as far as attendance is concerned.

Yeah Hawks management seems to understand that attendance is going to fall next year. They slashed SRO tickets in half for next season, a fair amount of the 300 level had a token (under 2% raise) bump. They seem to think they can still soak the expensive seats, which I'm curious about (most of those seats are owned by corporation who use it as a business expense writeoff, but that tax loophole was closed in the big tax bill last season).
I wouldn't be surprised if Rocky is looking to save a little cash & hoping that Kane & Toews will continue to draw enough interest and sponsorships that he can only pretend to be losing money for a few years until things start to get better again.

There is no way Rocky and Uncle John are gonna be ok with the loss of face and playoff revenues over the last 2 years. Not a chance. The heat will be further turned up next season when the sellouts stop, the season tix waiting list disappears, and game night revenue streams start to dry up.
Stan will 100% be in full panic mode...

I'd rather Stan be unemployed...Then he can panic, until Daddy gets him another job.
