And best of all he gets to use his "Fire Q" card this year to save his own job for another year, and be the guy that controls who the Hawks draft in their best position to draft in in a decade! Plus he gets to sign UFAs too! With a little bit more money this year since the cap is going up. WHEEEEE!!!!!! I'm pretty sure Stan can't cut Q on his own...McDLT would gag at losing a very marketable HOF Coach...On the other hand, keep Q and drop Stan, that's tough too. If there's going to be empty seats next year, McD is going to have to worry over his own job. He is going to push for big UFA splashes to solve the issue. He's not a hockey guy, he doesn't understand rebuilds.

Yep, McD will fall back on what he learned with the Cubs. Sign big FAs and hype up the team to make a wildcard birth maybe.

Stan got a 3rd for Darling, IIRC. He played that right.
Debrincat has been the closest thing to replacing Panarin. Without Alex, the Hawks likely would be one of the worst 5 teams in the league easily.
Saad was supposed to fill in for Hossa basically. He has been brutal. Obviously he wasn't gonna replace a HoF, but at least be serviceable for 6 million, asshole.
Defense took a dump but getting rid of Oduya and Campbell was the right move. Trading Hammer was also the right move, Stan just didn't know what to get in return which was not a guy making the same money.
Honestly, I thought the team was gonna be shit two years ago. They proved regular season warriors, but dickwads in the playoffs so maybe I was half right.
Team should more or less be more of the same next year. Some improvement from the youngsters, but that will be outweighed by the sack of diminishing crap that is Toews, Keith, and Seabrook.
The only way the Hawks really improve next season is down in the system. They "should" have a nice draft and hopefully some of the greenhorns continue to progress.

Regarding Saad, I do seem him being able to have a bounce back year next year.

I still don't think they should be 10 losses in a row bad 7th or 8th seed at worse. I know a super long time 300 level fan that will not be renewing their seat next year.Quite shocking this person would do that but Hawks are no longer worth the $$ I get it.

All is fair in love and war.
Rocky raped the fan base raising ticket prices like gang busters on the way up now he gets to eat it on the way down.

Instead of being one of the 8 worst with the 'CAT'.

Yep, McD will fall back on what he learned with the Cubs. Sign big FAs and hype up the team to make a wildcard birth maybe. Arguably, in line with the underlying thought that marketing drives (some) hockey considerations...and I'm not sure exactly when this started...but at the UC when they announce the starting lineup, they actually announce Q. Is it common league wide to do this? But, given this overt & repeated committment by the organIzation to Q, and the 2-years left on his contract @ ~$6MM/yr, unless Q steps up or out, it would seem very unlikely that he's fired after this season. From a marketing perspective, one would think that they would have to 'de-saint' him first. I share the opinion that while bad coaches can ruin a team, for the most part, coaching otherwise takes a back seat to player's talent. Great players, playing up to their potential, make great teams. Signing a 'name' FA, seems the simpliest fix for McD to sell. There's really nothing in the Rockford pipeline. The so-called 'core' is locked in, and mostly unmovable, for years. Denial seems the play of the day. "All is well" rings consistent with the latest uptick in seasons ticket pricing. All is well.

Can they make space for Tavares?

Tavares is easily a 12 million a year cap hit, no?
Hawks would need to move Anusmuffins and Hossa's contract off the books for it to be even close.
Then, of course, your #1 LW is Tommy Wingels.
