And offensive points scored is always how you determine the best DEFENSEman?
His coach told him to STFU because he was becoming a distraction His teammates were sick of hearing and talking about it. Plus, he tried to needle Crosby and lit a fire under him instead...which helped cost them Final. Fucking stupid...give Crosby another reason to want to beat you...and he did...head to head, sid pwned PK.
This isnt professional wrassling...you dont need heels vs faces. Just fucking play the game.

If that's what it takes to distract a team, they may have been more flawed than we thought. For Nashville's sake, I hope that's not what they're blaming the loss on. I'd love to see your reaction if the Hawks tried using such a flimsy excuse for bowing out to an opponent in the playoffs. And who is talking about faces and heels? I'm just talking about entertainment in general. The idea of sports is to be entertaining. And a big part of the NHL's problem is that every player in the league is as boring as watching paint dry when it comes to interviews. Generating buzz for your sport off the ice is a good thing. I don't know why the NHL and it's 'hardcore' fanbase has such a tough time understanding this. The way things are right now, I don't even know why we bother with post/pre game interviews. If John Totorella isn't involved, why do we even bother listening to the same clichés every single night? And really... Most of Subban's antics arett' even really antics. Guys talk trash in the finals all the time. This isn't unique to Subban trying to get at Crosby. I remember Philly having pulled it off in the past where all the talk was, "Crosby needs to tune them out and get back to playing his game." But since Crosby prevailed here, I guess the narrative is, "Crosby used it as motivation to stick it to the Preds!" Um.... Sure. Players are constantly talking trash during the games. I figured you would have known this. Subban managed to just say something slightly funny about it after the game and that was about it. And because people like you aren't used to the standard "I don't really remember, we were both just trying to compete, what's important now is the next game" garbage, it somehow turned into a thing. omg, so distracting. The refs were probably already anticipating how distracting the black guy was on the ice was going to be when they made this decision: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6rAPOGaEq2w

Duclair can be added to the list of black people who find this to be "actually racist":

No one wants to see that but a basketball chant is pretty harmless. More like heckling to me. It could have been way worse.
Guys are getting the business in the penalty box from opposing fans all the time. Doesn't matter what color the skin is either.

I have nothing against heckling. I have plenty against racism. Even if it's not the "worst" form of it.

People like me...who have actually played the game our whole lives and are annoyed by me-first showboating prima donnas?
Impress me with your play on the ice, not your fancy hats and self-promotion off it.
It has nothing to do with him being black...it has everything to do with him being a fucking idiot...but keep pretending the NHL needs to market him...and his 'uniqueness'...if he wasnt black hed just be another mouthpiece ..but because of 'cultural diffencnces', hes special...Fuck Off...Hes Canadian.

So when you played the game, nobody was trash talking each other on the ice? So weird. Thanks for teaching me, Jim! Your beer league experience really helps me understand what the NHL is like!

By the way, I love the "never played the game" argument. I feel like only the hockey fanbase holds onto it as hard as they do. They hate how little coverage they get and hate the coverage they do get all at the same time. And then get super defensive whenever a suspected non-player starts chiming in. Hockey is a great sport. It deserves a better league; it deserves better fans.
Football, baseball, basketball... None of these sports cling to the requirement of having must played the game the way hockey does. It's so absurd and unnecessary.

Because hockey is different from those sports...its a cult sport...and im happy to keep it that way...the great masses of bandwagon fans watch baseball and basketball...transitory in terms of affection amd passove involvement in watching a game...hockey is far more about die hards...which is why i despise what the UC has turnred into.
You are a casual fan...great...we get that...but if you need to be entertained by douchebags talking loud and saying nothing in gaudy wardrobes and big gold chains, perhaps the NBA is more for you.

Haha, wait, what makes me a casual fan? Because I don't subscribe to the Book of Jim on all opinions relating to hockey? Fuck off with that elitist nonsense.
Nothing you typed has anything to do with why only those who played hockey are allowed to talk about hockey. A requirement that doesn't exist for any other sport. Yes. Hockey is different. ....Are we saying basketball, football, and baseball are identical? And I was told previously football is the most competitive sport because it's the most violent, so I would think that would be even more prone to this type of rule. It at least can't be anything like basketball and baseball in the case.
Also, things I would never say to anyone on this board:
Please, your opinion on soccer is invalid. I play in rec leagues in Dyer and Merrillville. Have you ever played? Don't think so!
