If the Sens were just giving away Hoffman for pennies on the dollar to be rid of him, would you take him on the Hawks will all the fiancé drama? Maybe she can be used to bully unwanted no-trade contracts out of the team. "Dayna Seabrook, meet Monika Caryk!" She's also not intimidated by captains, so Toews better watch out, too.

Listen, Hoffman is "150%" sure his fiancee didn't do what she's accused of. So, not only does he not recognize toxic people around him, but he's also bad at math.

I think the 100 is for him and the 50 for his girlfriend.

I wonder if you could work a deal with Buffalo around Beaulieu to get rid of Hossa's cap? Gaining Dahlin in the draft and presumably plugging him into the lineup immediately, I can't imagine Beaulieu fits into the long term plans (or short term given a lackluster season last year) with Scandella signed for 2 more years and McCabe another (and just a RFA after), Antipin a RFA, and Brandon Guhle probably NHL ready after spending some time in Buffalo last year in his first year of pro. I suppose Buffalo can just buy him out for a million and just be done with him and not mess with Hossa. Moulson is only for another year and has a remaining salary that equals what is left for Hossa....3 million but the cap hit of 5 million is pretty harsh.
Would Hossa and a 2019 4th for Moulson (1.5 million retained) and Beaulieu maybe work? Paying Hossa would be the same dollars as buying out both Moulson and Beaulieu for Buffalo. We end up 625K in more cap hit after the trade. If you can't flip or giveaway Beaulieu, both he and Moulson can be sent to the AHL which gives us an extra 2.050 in cap space (or 1.425 more then with just Hossa). Buffalo really shouldn't need cap space until Dahlin comes off his entry level which will be the same Summer Hossa's cap would go away. Pomminville goes away next Summer at 5.6 if you want to invest in a UFA.
I wouldn't even mind hanging onto Beaulieu as a 3rd paring guy or an overpaid 7th guy if someone is in love with Oesterle, Gustafson, or Forsling and we could flip one or two for some forward depth.

If the Sabres improve enough, they could make a push before 2021. Eichel's entering his prime and Pegula has money - they might want to add star players and not have Hossa's contract handcuff them.
I think 3 years is a bit tough for any team. Most teams have hope they will have turned their ship around in that time. Let's see next summer.

Yeah, no way Buffalo is willing to take on 3 years. I think 2 years would probably be too much for them too. It's too much risk for a team that can easily spend to the cap when the time comes. Plus, as noted with Pegula money, they really aren't concerned about hitting the cap floor, to get them to take on dead cap weight would come at a more premium price than a team like Arizona.

Probably right....but I just don't see how or why Buffalo would spend to the cap before Dahlin's ELC ends. They have 25 million in cap and only Reinhart and Lehner as Rfa's that are going to make anything. Even if you go crazy and really believe in both....that is 9 per (Reinhart at 5 and Lehner at 4). Which leaves you 16 to spend this year. They would need a LW and 3rd pairing RD. Go crazy and give JVR, Perron, Neal, or Vanek 6 million and find a 3rd pairing RD for even 3 per and you still have 9 left over. Next season you have McCabe, Grigensons, Larsson all RFA's with at this point only McCabe having done anything even remotely resembling needing a decent pay raise and you get Pomminville's 5.6 coming off the books.

Wojo, you really do like to make things overly complicated...entertaining, but complicated.

Wojo, you really do like to make things overly complicated...entertaining, but complicated. Got 2 first rounders get Calgary on the horn and get Frolik. Nice and simple, even you can understand.

So right now we are looking at: That's a 24-man roster, so you put Crow or Forsling or both on IR to start the season.

I pray that the Hawks let Jokiharju marinate a season in Rockford. Burning a ELC year just like they did for Debrincat would be foolish with this roster. Rockford also has a chance of being a winning team unlike the roster Stan assembled in Chicago.

Who are the first call ups from Rockford in case of injury?
I mean will Keith play a full 82 games at 35? I doubt that.
One long-term injury in the top 6, and the Hawks are lucky to put together a 70 point campaign.
