Colossal waste. The disabled list hates his lazy ass. Must be a Sox fan. So given Eloy's MLB experience thus far (another of Theo/Jed's pics from that rebuild time who have a bat and no glove/no position), the Quintana deal now was only brutal for the Cubs instead of catastrophic. One of several very bad trades the Cubs made to try to win again after 2016. The Quintana deal was easily the worst. If the Cubs cannot win a series or even games against their own division, even their "rebuild" has to be called into question. Jed is probably (and should be) on thin ice. Tell me again why they let Contreras go for nothing?

Very disappointing deadline honestly, only Morel and Leiter Jr get dealt?
Neris and Taillon absolutely should’ve gone. I would’ve traded the entire outfield as well. I guess the plan is to run this dumpster fire back next year in Jed’s lame duck season? Terrible.

Neris has a clause in his contract that after so many appearances the club option turns into player. Don’t think other teams wanted that risk. Smyly has a 2.5 million dollar buyout due so unless the Cubs were going to send cash in the deal, same story as Neris. The thing with baseball is that you can weigh comp pick versus trade. You’re getting a lottery ticket either way. If Neris and Smyly walk and Cubs replace internally or with cheaper FA, comp pick is awarded.

That 8th inning was stuff Little League is made of. Cardinals didn't win, Cubs gave it away.
