He can follow Addison Russell to the land of wayward former Chicago shortstops who "personal lifed" themselves out of the league.

Tim Anderson imploding was not something anyone in the White Sox front office could likely have anticipated. I don't know the details, but unplugging him from that group was a huge hit to the offense. Amazing how he completely lost it. Never a big fan, but that was difficult to watch.

So will it be the Cubs who get to hang the mantle of shame on the sox, for breaking the all-time futility record?

White Sox only 2nd fastest to lose 100 games. I guess there is always next year to try again.

Looks like the offense that was pretty consistent for all of April has finally returned, and I’d actually give a lot of credit to the 8-9 of PCA and Amaya managing to turn their seasons around from the sub Mendoza line averages they had late July/early Aug.
3 back of WC 3 entering this week. I still say it’s too little too late, but at least some watchable games coming up with Yankees at Wrigley this weekend and 3 big games in LA to start next week.

Gooch! Cubs grasped defeat from the jaws of victory tonight. Taillon had only thrown 89 pitches in 7 shutout innings. Why take him out??

Because “analytics” and other forms of teh ghey that have invaded sports. Nobody bats an eye when guys get pulled throwing a no hitter, so this won’t even be a footnote in the news.

If any of these teams do not talk "eye test" in conjunction with analytics, it is time to hit the snooze button.
That said, the elbow "discomfort" for Steele puts what little hope the Cubs have for a playoff run to rest. And probably next year too if this is more serious than discomfort.
Despite some nice results for portions of the season, from start to finish, the Cubs lacked sufficient pitching to be competitive. Other than maybe the Reds this year, they have the worst pitching in the division. Eventually that comes home to roost.

I wouldn’t blame the starting pitching at all. The bullpen (until recently), was a total dumpster fire from April-July and cost them countless games they should’ve won.
The offense outside of April and August is what really killed this teams chances this year.

Dodgers getting hammered 10 -1 in the 7th against the Braves so they put their SS Miguel Rojas on the mound. He throws BP balls and gets 3 straight outs. Next inning he's replaced by the RF Mike Hernandez and he gets 3 straight outs. I guess anyone can play center, I mean pitch.
