I didn't even know Darvish was on the DL. Waste of $ especially considering his post season fails. Darvish is 1-3 with a 4.95 ERA after signing a six-year, $126 million deal in the offseason. He has imploded in several starts while looking sharp in several others, including his last one, before feeling soreness during a throwing session between outings. Hope Cubs trainers supply Darvish with some 'Mental Toughness' pills.

Read something that Darvish is bothered by people heckling him. Should have signed in Miami then!

The two areas of substantial cash outlay in the offseason remain the weak points. Lester and Montgomery are the only reliable starters and though the bullpen has been great, Morrow's injury history (SUBSTANTIAL) will test the bullpen. Glad Edwards has had a break - hopefully he is back healthy soon. Managing and not overusing the bullpen has not been one of Maddon's strengths...

Though Heyward looks like Atlanta Braves Jason Heyward with his swing right now. Hopefully that continues...

Still thinking the Cubs made one of two bad decisions, not the wrong decision there. Against the NL Central recently, he hasn't been good.

A guy that pitches to contact is running up 90-100 pitches in 5+ innings...Not too many being fooled by off-speed, out of the zone stuff.
Way too many walks for him to be effective.

The starters outside of Lester and Montgomery’s latest stunt have not been good. I suppose Q had looked better of late, but can’t fault Joe for going to what has been the best pen in the league up to this point when his starters can’t even make it past 6 innings.

Plus Maddon has historically had Hendricks on a short rope (until really last year), and these performances will put more pressure on the bullpen. Fortunately their division is closer to garbage than elite.

Washington and LAD are still better built teams for the playoffs. I don’t trust this lineup as is to beat that caliber of pitching in the postseason, and they sure as hell don’t match up against the AL elite.

I would feel better if the Cubs had one hitter in the their lineup who made consistent contact, was on base consistently and could steal the occasional base.
I'd agree on the Nats with Herrera being dealt to Washington, but I don't think the Dodgers are in that same category this year. The Giants will be the next team to deal for a short-term closer (Familia?) and if they do, I'd put them in instead of LA. Bumgarner is back and Cueto is about to be.

The good thing is the NL west will all beat up on each other the whole year. Same with the NL East.
It’s a shame to see that Bryant and Contreras are no longer power threats for this team.

It is hard to know how long the pitch to the face will impact Bryant's approach at the plate, at least for awhile. I'd feel better if Bryant was more consistent at driving in runs from scoring position by any means, including taking the pitch the other way with two strikes.

The Reds? Seriously?

This team has some serious issues despite their record. A shake up trade is badly needed.
