And swept by the Reds to cap off the week. Good luck winning a game in LA next week.

The Cubs are definitely in a funk, but thank goodness for Jon Lester this year, and last night. And Baez.
Hopefully that snaps them out of the doldrums and Darvish comes back and earns his corn.

Reads like he's a Dodger more than a Cub.

In any league, when a player retires, his contract is considered over. It's only in leagues with caps where contracts that aren't being paid out can still have cap implications. No cap in baseball, so if Yu were to walk away, no penalty against the Cubs.

Darvish to be re-evaluated back in Chicago. Felt pain not just soreness today
Just keeps getting worse

Darvish is a lost cause. The sooner he is gone for the season the better. Cubs need to worry more about getting Chatwood to stop walking 7 guys a game.
Arrieta is having a stellar June. Nearly a 7.00 ERA. When will teams realize that free agency sucks?

2/3 against LA in LA basically erases the Reds' debacle.

The good news on Chatwood is his ball movement is off the charts, with pace. But if the guy can't control it, he will soon be relegated to the bullpen. And with no Darvish, the challenge becomes much greater.
The pitcher that I'd like in Cubbies blue is Aaron Nola, but the Phillies know what they have. And I think Theo is going to have to make chicken salad out of the other kinds of chicken he has with his starting pitchers. Basically it is Lester and Montgomery and cross your fingers.

Wonder what it would take to get Archer out of TB.

I don't think Theo has the option to add anything other than an expiring contract for this year. Especially after they opened the checkbook and traded a ton for Quintana. As of today, none of said transactions are paying much in dividends, though it is early.

Wonder what it would take to get Archer out of TB. Another ex-Cub farm boy.
