Cubs will likely target Cole Hamels, IMO. Expiring contract and all.

Last night Hendricks looked real good (pitched into the 9th) w/no earned runs. Of course, Cubs didn't score but 1 so....

If the cost to deal for a rental is another top prospect, I'd pass. And since they pretty much put their stake in the ground with Darvish and Chatwood (of 70 walks in 74 innings fame), I don't see them adding anyone except maybe in the bullpen. Montgomery will probably stay in the rotation and Chatwood will become the long reliever. If Darvish pitches this season...

Even if they got an 35 yr old innings-eater, that doesn't walk every one, it would be a step up. And they don't have much left in the top prospect pile.

Wait. You're not talkin about that stiff pitching for the W. Sox...No thanks.

Don't go within a mile of Shields, please. He was done before he went to the Chisox. Too many miles - balls will be flying out of Wrigley.
I'm OK with forcing the front office to deal with the hand they've elected to play. Unfortunately, the role they may have to fill is the closer. Morrow has always been brittle and has a tough time staying healthy.

Brad Hand from SD should be available.
In terms of starters, worth checking the price on Hamels or Happ from Toronto.

Happ is your guy
He is very reliable and throws a ton of ground balls...eats innings too...if he's your #3, you're in awesome shape...i could see him slot as 2, but you want a hard throwing righty between Lester and him.
