If I was the owner, I would say the same thing. They have pissed away a lot of big money on pretty mediocre pitching since 2016 and more problems have surfaced than they've solved.
Except for Hamels in a partial summer of 2018 and Darvish for part of 2019, they have not received anything close to value paid.
Hopefully Ross can help them start their season in April and finish in September.

Russell was non-tendered making him a free agent. Not a surprise he was passed up by Baez and Nico. Beating your wife didn’t help either. His career collapsed pretty hard.

Seemed like he was at his best on the field when he was knocking around his wife. Maybe he should talk to Bobby Hull for tips on how to do it on the down-low...

By the way, nice holiday shopping by Rick Hahn. Kikell, Gonzalez, Encarnacion, Grandal, and Mazara. All solid additions, some more than others, but all better than the stiffs that they are replacing. Team maybe (I said maybe) knocks on the door of a wild card if the young bucks, especially on the pitching staff don't take a step back, and one of the the Tommy John kids comes back ahead of schedule. But things is lookin' up.

I’ve liked the Sox moves this offseason as well.
Meanwhile on the North Side, the Flubs seem content doing absolutely nothing again.

White Sox doing White Sox things per usual. Stay the course and keep building from within. Instead they go out a buy a bunch of has beens that won’t live up to their contracts and block kids coming up in the system. At least they have nice fireworks.

None of these guys are blocking anybody. They are filling holes that needed to be filled UNTIL some of these other kids on the farm are ready. They will either be gone at a point in the near future, or be in support roles when the time is right. Kind of like what Theo did when he rode in. We'll just have to see what the results will be.

Why didn’t the White Sox think of cameras to steal signs? At least they could have been more creative than using a trash can as a telephone.

Mazara will be a good pick-up. Always liked his game, and new scenery could turn him around.
If I were Ricketts I would not give Theo any more free agent money until they start delivering value for the money already spent. And that will be a challenge because there are still pitching holes to fill. especially in the bullpen. The Darvish, aging Lester, Hendricks and Quintana rotation is not going to strike fear in batter's hearts - they won't need cheating to hit that staff.
Not having Maddon's ill-advised lineups and changes is worth at least 5 games if somehow the pitching holds up.
That said, this team may break the club record for strikeouts if Happ and Schwarber become regulars.

I guess it pays to steal signs...just not to get caught...
