In theory it was the right move, but the return was underwhelming. I can’t imagine SD was the only team interested.

Return was good in my opinion. They will flip Davies at the TDL too since he is an expiring contract. In MLB, you need quantity over quality since developing players is such a crapshoot. That’s why guys drafted in the 200th round turn out to be pretty good players. The window for baseball prospects is 18-25 (especially for pitchers). Unlike the NHL where you need to prove yourself by 21-22 if you really want a shot.

Not even top 10 in the Padres system. At this point, Cubs look to finish in front of Pitt.

17-19 year olds aren’t going to ranked so that’s not surprising.

I thought that was temporary.
Just read this...
The designated hitter rule is coming to the National League for the first time this year. It will vanish again in 2021 in the NL, with the division and league schedules reverting back to their traditional ways, but beginning in 2022, under a new collective bargaining agreement, the universal DH will be here to stay.

Tatis just signed a 14 year deal worth 340 mil. Has the guy even played a full season yet?

And then we'll watch Tampa Bay and Oakland generate more wins. Just crazy. And baseball is losing audience every year....

And supposedly a 15% "deader" baseball in 2021. The Blue Jays should be fun to watch hit this year. Pitching not so much, though Pearson is going to be a stud if he stays healthy.
Unless Pederson is a way better defensive left fielder than Schwarber, another all or nothing hitter with no speed doesn't seem like progress for the only position player change. And then the key player dump happens during the season.

Personally I will not miss Schwarber as much as many Cub fans, but they have not addressed any offensive deficiencies since 2016.
