They would be stupid to sign any of them to contract extensions. Get ready for stoopid.

Nice sweep of SD at home to open a 1.5 game lead in the Central.
Going to be harder for Hoyer and Ricketts to justify selling if this keeps up. The offense has actually come together in a way I forgot was possible for them after the last few years.
At this point, biggest concern is how this patchwork starting staff is going to hold once the weather heats up.

Not to mention all these Minor league FA signings that are playing a huge roll on the O.

Not to be a Cubs Scrooge, but...
We should enjoy this while it lasts. June has the makings of a typical Cubs June swoon with a pretty brutal schedule, and it is hard to see the Cubs bullpen continuing on its overall torrid pace. I really like Alzolay, Hendricks is semi-reliable, Arrieta has given them some good starts while he stayed healthy, but there is much else to say right now about the starters. The offense should produce at least enough to be in many games until Jed has to dump the guys who won't be re-signing.
The good news is the chance for a better return on Bryant and Kimbrel improves the longer they produce. If the Cubs come out of June even with a .500 record, they may well be in the race until they do their roster trimming before free agency. Or maybe they bite the bullet and try to win the division. They know the starting pitching is not there to compete the longer this season goes on.
If the Brewers had any offense at all they would run away with the brutal Central. The Cubs haven't shown the ability to hit or create runs against their top guns.

Cubs schedule is nasty this month.

Almost as stupid as their first baseman chasing Baez around with 2 outs and allowing a runner to score.
Must be a Pittsburgh thing.

Is there an organization in baseball more poorly managed and run than the Pirates? Austin Meadows and Tyler Glasnow for Chris Archer...let's start there. They are the Tampa Bay Rays and Oakland A's model, except the clueless version. Nothing will change until they change ownership, sadly for the Pirates fans.

After sucking in San Francisco the first three games, the guys are showing some life. If they can come out of June with a .500 record for the month, it will make Jed's decision on when to pull the ripcord a bit more difficult.

Sick ab. From Rizzo here today vs cards. Looked like 10-11 pitch at bat. Then cranked one into the bleachers to tie game.

I left for my granddaughters grad party when it was 5-1. Cubs looked deader than Blammo's genitalia. Nice comeback.
