It doesn’t even have to be a fight. There’s just no hitting or physicality in general anymore in the No Hitting League. Rat hockey was absolutely the correct term for what the game has become. Watching most of these games just feels so lifeless the past few years. Zero emotion or animosity towards divisional opponents. You’d think getting the shit kicked out of you for games on end would light a fire under someone with any pride. Hell, I’ll settle for the annual JT fight at this point. Just give me anything that shows someone out there has a pulse. Here's the chance tonight against the struggling Blows...Someone HAS to get up for it.

The proposed fight in this thread would have been fighting for the sake of fighting. No effect on the game at all. Given what is now known about the lasting effects of head shots, why would you look down on a guy for not putting himself out there with absolutely nothing on the line?
Although the players dont want to see fighting removed (neither do i by the way), anyone who watches hockey regularly, and is telling the truth, will admit that rarely does a fight turn a game around for one team. The idea that one team or the other sees some moral victory from a fight is ridiculous. Especially given 90% of fights dont end with one clear winner.

Given the sad state if the hawks? A lengthy losing streak and a new coach behind the bench, I think a show of giving a shit in that instance has a positive effect on team unity.

98% of players (from 2011) want to leave fighting in the game but the vast majority have no interest in being in those fights. And anecdotal evidence aside (coaches always say thing X "turned the game around" if they win, even if the exact same thing happened in a game where the outcome didn't change), a fight with a minute left would have done dick. Moral victories are for losers.

A dirty check, A cheap shot of any sort. If someone else from the team receiving wants to go out and settle the score, fine. If theres a guy out there taking liberties with smaller or finesse guys, someone needs to go out and make him answer for it. I remember Bobby finally having enough of Eddie Shack following him around and slashing his ankles, turning around, and beating the living shit out of him. Thats a fight for a legit reason. And a fuck of a lot of fun. Martinsson getting in a meaningless fight at the end of a game is pure bullshit. And it means nothing.

Bobby took a lotta shit (except from Joanne (Where's my Fucking PHONE!!)). That was as big as the left side of Shack's face. Good times.

So Simmonds running around intimidating hawk players looking for trouble doesn't count...but hull settling a personal beef does?
Got it.

Noob And sure, many players prefer guys like Martinsen do it...SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO!!
