Actually, it's been a while since I've seen a player mention how a fight turned a game. Probably because there are so few anymore, something that doesn't seem to bother them. When was the last time you heard players talking about how there needs to be more fighting in the league. Old surveys say they like fighting, and I believe it. So do I. But when it comes to actually happening, almost none of them give a shit. And your comment about wanting Martinson to fight instead of them, so what? They'd like him to fight to help turn the game around...but obviously that wasn't happening with a minute left so it doesn't appear that anyone cared? We already know the coach didn't.

But we care. Fans. Yet we continue to pay their ever growing salaries.
Seems the more they get paid the sissier they become. How much does Cristiano Ronaldo make?
If anything, the product should get cheaper the less physical play there is.

So you finally admit you didnt actually interview any players?

I never said I interviewed anyone. I said I've talked to current players, which is true.
And Lari, fans don't care because if they did all the people here complaining about how "sissified" the league has become would have stopped following this team that hasn't had a goon on it's roster in what--8 years (does Ben Eager count as a goon)? Maybe closer to 15 if you want to talk about a real "sucks at hockey but can drop 'em" goon like Busshy.

i pay very little attention compared to years past specifically for that reason.
league wide, personally struggle to make it through a game. if i even bother at all.
hypothetically if the flyers were my favorite team/I lived in chicago. i would opt to not have season tickets.
i do agree with ya gadi, most people bitch, but still watch and overall attendance is up.

I am one of those who bitch but still watch. Mostly because it's still better than the other sports it's competing with. But there's no denying the game has lost a lot of its entertainment value in the Bettman years.
The product has gone down in quality. It's barely better than the other boring sports now. Why must all sports be the same? I enjoyed the bare knuckle fights and emotion displayed in hockey. If all of that is gone it's just a bunch of guys scoring goals and trying to avoid contact. Might as well watch soccer.
But I hate that kind of sport. If hockey ever gets to that, it will lose its purpose. There already is soccer. And I will switch to my #2 sport, golf.

after the us world cup its gonna be hard to not see that generation convert to soccer. especially with less kids playing baseball, and less parents letting their kids olay play contact sports.
i like soccer for the reasons i like hockey. the reasons i loved hockey over soccer sre fading.

I watch about half of what I used to...and I purchase maybe 10% of what I used to...and I am certainly not alone

I like hockey because it's a combination of finesse and brute force. No other sport can match it. But it's been severely handicapping itself and it's now becoming just another game. Field hockey on ice. There's a reason I don't watch field hockey.

No one is saying you have to get in a line brawl every shift, but for Christ’s sake some healthy animosity towards your opponent once every couple shifts wouldn’t kill anyone.

ya its not on t.v. ...dummy... You can probably find it somewhere. Stream, if nothing else. Is hockey being on tv the only reason you watch it? That does explain why people watch Auction Hunters.
