They both have the same number of gold medals. Let's be friends now.

Crosby was the McDavid of yesteryear when he came up through juniors. Toews wasn't even the #1 pick in his draft, and he never had the "game-breaking" offensive ability even playing at North Dakota. He's clearly overpaid since his offensive contributions are not anywhere near where they need to be for 10.5 million, but that's not his fault that's on Stun. If Kane is getting 10.5 million, Toews shouldn't be getting more than 8 million.

I get people being sick of Crosby...he was the 'next one' since he was 12. But he pretty much lived up to it...he is the dominant player of his generation

I think that's pretty fair. The NHL shoved him down our throats. So we naturally want to hate him, as they glossed over a lot of other talent at the expense of Crosby. But we cant' forget that Crosby was indeed the #1 guy this entire time. Ovechkin tried to challenge him for a while but was never quite there. McDavid has replaced Ovechkin in that respect. Only this time, he might actually be better than Crosby.

WTF is with the "TAYES" idiocy? What are we, 12?

Regardless of how good he is its the sort of thing that will make people hate him. Happens to almost all the generational talents I find.

TAYES doesn't eat hotdogs he prefers to sit down on them Crosby's offensive accomplishments simply dwarf anything TAYES has accomplished. they prefer to be called little people.

If we're going to talk about offense being the most important trait in a player (because that's clearly the case here) GOALS are far more important than assists. And OV has almost 200 more than Sid does. Think if OV had Geno and the top trade deadline acquisition for several years under his belt that he'd have a couple of Cups? I sure as hell do...

But he pretty much lived up to it...he is the dominant player of his generation The "sick of Crosby" part comes from the media wanting to give him credit for literally every success the team has. Ignoring that Geno/Kessel carried the team offensively twice in the last two playoff runs. Or got stellar goaltending from Matt Murray. Yet any failures were "because of" Fleury or Malkin when Crosby clearly went AWOL in the playoffs from about 2008-2015. . . If Toews put up those numbers in the playoffs (and he has the last two years, nevermind FIVE) he'd be lynched 5x what he is now. Sure, the Hawks have the likes of Toews, Kane, Keith, Seabrook, Hossa and Hjalmarsson that were around for every Cup run and you don't see anywhere NEAR the amount of focus on ONE GUY that the Pens get with Crosby.

Now crosby was awol for 7 years???
Come on...lol
And a point per game pace is a pretty good slump
Nobody 'carried' him

And honestly...Toews' supporting cast has been better than what the Pens have had...look at their LOL defense.
And Sid turned his linemates like Kunitz and Sheary and Guentzel and Rust into stars.
And JT has had big Hoss riding shotgun with him pretty much his whole career.

Crosby's back-to-back playoff failures in 2013-2014 gave him 18 games played, 3 goals, 10 assists (13 points) and a minus 3. You went apeshit on Toews for his ONE year (2013) where he scored just 3 goals and 14 pts but was a plus 9... So, which is it?
Toews last two playoff "failures" (2017/2016) have him at 8 pts in 11 games and -3. Looks pretty close to the shit Crosby did in 13/14 and you give him a pass. They literally had the same point-per-game clip over those back-to-back failures and Crosby was a minus player in 4 of his 5 playoff years from 2011-2015 (!!), but you write-off one and suck-off the other. Sure.
Oh, but regular season points are king?? Just like the "President's Cup" and team unbeaten streaks that included shootout losses??? LMAO

And JT has had big Hoss riding shotgun with him pretty much his whole career. He almost single-handedly turned Bryan Bickell into a multi-millionaire. At least the above players you mentioned can skate. Rust scored goals without playing with Crosby at all last postseason - same with Sheary. Half of Guentzel's goals didn't involve a point from Sid either.

And honestly...Toews' supporting cast has been better than what the Pens have had...look at their LOL defense. Wait WHAT??? You've spent how many years calling the Hawks "soft, gutless pussies" but their roster is somehow superior to the Pens? The Pens played in the biggest joke of a conference where 2 teams would be considered 'legit' Cup favourites each year; Pittsburgh being one of them. The fact they got tossed around by the Bruins, Rangers and Flyers several times doesn't make those teams world beaters. The Pens (and Ray Shero) would get the top deadline guy almost every year for about 4-5 years running and still not win. Guerin, Hossa, Iginla.. So Toews had Hossa riding shotgun and that was *the *reason for his success?? Okay - then what was the problem when Hossa played with Crosby?? LOL! !!
