We know the Hawks have to be thinking about selling/retooling some at the Deadline.
It's fascinating to me since this is the first time in a decade that selling is really the ONLY thing the Hawks should be thinking about.
We also know that with so many NMC's and hard-to-trade contracts, the players that need to go probably won't.
So who goes, and what is an acceptable return for those that do? Are they players that will even get a return that is worth moving them for?
Does Stunley ask anyone to move waive their NMC to get dealt?

One thing kind of funny to think about. This past off-season the front office made a huge show of how last season's failure was unacceptable. Everything they have done since has made the team worse.

It's not really funny since Stan will still be in charge at the Deadline. But yeah, pretty much...

If not, wow. And 'acceptable return' is vastly different in Stan's head.

Only guys that are tradable are Bouma, Wingels, Kempny, and Ruuta. Expected return..a used condom from Jim's rectum.

Like for me I don't want to necessarily see guys like Wingels and Bouma moved because quite frankly they seem to give a shit out there and at least try to make things happen. Plus if you're getting seventh rounders for them what's the point? If the return would be stupid (like say a third), then yes move them. But in what appears to be a buyers market I don't see it.
It would clear room for guys like Hayden to come up and show their chops to end the year, but if they are only gonna play 8-10 minutes a game then it probably isn't to their benefit either.
On D, honestly all the new guys have had their moments of good and even more of not-so-good, so their return would likely be middling at best.
Sad that a guy like Sharp wouldn't likely fetch even a seventh right now. I would like to think that when a guy like that was signed, they hoped at least for enough lifesigns through the season to make a deadline trade if things went south something that could be pursued. But he's been awful. No takers there.

If not, wow. And 'acceptable return' is vastly different in Stan's head. Stan could also ask those guys he would want to waive to move to do so for the draft, for trading purposes. Probably makes more sense. Agreed on Stun's "acceptable return" being different, which is why it's impossible for me to guess player-wise who that dunderhead might want to bring in as the centerpiece to a trade of an NMC guy.

You still move guys like Wingels and Bouma regardless of the return so you can clear ice time for a couple Ice Hogs down at the farm. This gives a couple kids besides just Hayden a taste of the big league and allows the Hawks to evaluate their progress.

Seems a good rule of thumb for GMing is to let other GMs overpay for declining assets. A corrolary to that would be to keep your options open because no plan is perfect nor is is future performance guaranteed. Stun's 'name player' contracts are arguable over market value, certainly short sighted in term, and disasterous with NM/NT clauses.
Perhaps, one would like to believe there were worse GMs around to 'stick' with the Hawks problems. One can hope.
Can Stun dig himself out of this hole and 'realign the stars' with some tranaction(s) at the trade deadline? or ever?? Fat chance. 'If you can’t spot the sucker ... at the table, then you are the sucker.' Stun, is the sucker...and in many contexts also the suckee.
Only thing that happens at the trade deadline will be announcement of some philanthropic initiative protraying Hawk hockey players as really, really nice peoples.

And John Wayne Gacey gets a statue next to Bobby Hull.
Seriously...if stund bowman is in charge of the rebuild, the Hawks may as well move to Phx.

Did Glass start both Cal games because Haeks are 'showcasing' him (LOL), or because they want to explore trading Crawford?

AA has to go. You can't have 16 millionz tied up in your middle 6 centers. Anisimov will never be more then a #3 center with Schmaltz flanking Kane and Toews making 10.5 large. Move him for a similarly contracted D man and plug a kid into the #3 center spot. If you can get a 5th or 6th for any of Kempny, Rutta, Sharp, Bouma, or Wingels...take it. If someone offered a 3rd, I would let them pick 2 or 3 out of that grouping.

Does AA have a NMC? I can't remember.
